Dr hab. Michał Lubina, adiunkt w Instytucie Bliskiego i Dalekiego Wschodu UJ. Specjalizuje się w naukach społecznych, w zakresie nauk o polityce. Zajmuje się współczesną Birmą (Mjanmą) oraz stosunkami rosyjsko-chińskimi.

Magister rosjoznawstwa (2008) i studiów dalekowschodnich (2012); studiował również w ramach wymian w Petersburgu, Moskwie i Mińsku; stypendysta MNiSW w Pekinie (2009/2010). Doktor (2014) i doktor habilitowany (2020) nauk politycznych. Od 2011 związany z Instytutem Bliskiego i Dalekiego Wschodu UJ (wcześniej z Instytutem Rosji i Europy Wschodniej UJ). W 2016 r. pierwszy dyrektor Instytutu Sejonga UJ. W 2018 r. profesor wizytujący na Uniwersytecie Chulalongkorna w Bangkoku.

Jest autorem ośmiu książek: pionierskich prac na temat Birmy w Polsce (m.in. pierwszej historii tego kraju oraz jedynej biografii Noblistki Aung San Suu Kyi), pierwszej w Polsce monografii o współczesnych stosunkach rosyjsko-chińskich (Niedźwiedź w cieniu smoka), a także 3 monografii po angielsku, m.in. ‘A Political Biography of Aung San Suu Kyi’ (Routledge: New York-Abington 2020) i ‘Russia and China.A Political Marriage of Convenience’ (Budrich: Oppladen-Berlin-Toronto 2017)

Michał Lubina, PhD, is Associate Professor of Political Science at the Institute of the Middle and Far East, Jagiellonian University in Krakow. He specializes in Social and Political Science. His research interests include: contemporary Burma/Myanmar and Russia-China relations.

MA in Russian Studies (2008) and in Far Eastern Studies (2012); he also studied at universities in Saint Petersburg, Moscow and Minsk (under JU exchanges programmes) and was on scholarship at Beijing International Studies University (2009/2010). PhD (2014) and habilitation (2020) in political science. Since 2011 he has been working at the Institute of Middle and Far East (previously at Institute of Russia and Eastern Europe). In 2016 he served as the first Director of Sejong Institute in Krakow. In 2018 he was a Visiting Professor at the Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok.

He is the author of eight books (three in English), including ‘A Political Biography of Aung San Suu Kyi’ (Routledge: New York-Abington 2020) and ‘Russia and China.A Political Marriage of Convenience’ (Budrich: Oppladen-Berlin-Toronto 2017) as well as pioneer works on Burma/Myanmar in Polish.
